10:40 VARIATION III / video out of analog photo negatives & sound, 2012
In search of more dynamic visuals, Variation III takes a step aside from two confining aspects: the three-voice structure and the methodological use of all the images. It is made of a selected range of images, incidentally those that were used for the second part of Variation II. In Variation III, the gray values of the images – in addition to determining the order of appearance and rhythm – direct their own size, direction and position on the surface. And so, the three voices give way to a certain unity of time and space, of sound and image: the entire timeline is always visible, turning the sound into an immanent part of the image.
