FLESH / silver gelatin prints, 2019-2026 and ongoing
In the immersing flesh, in the emerging flesh, is a lived body of pleasure and pain, a deep rooting in the present in which it thrives forever.
This series combines previous and new photographs, juxtaposing plants and human body – the plant is flesh, the flesh is body – full of tension, full of softness; it grows, it changes, and it ceases – full of life.
Looking to Maurice Merleau-Ponty, it is in and of flesh that we are and move in the world. Flesh is not merely synonymous with materiality, it is an ontological meeting point between us and the world. It is what enables us to experience being in the world as physical-spiritual-living beings.
